Meanwhile, the Israeli army has continued its attacks on the Gaza Strip. Medical sources said that at least 116 people have been killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza since dawn yesterday. 38 of them were shot dead while trying to collect food from an aid center run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). The incidents came as the Gaza Health Ministry warned that emergency departments in Gaza hospitals were being overwhelmed by people dying of extreme hunger. Such a situation has never been seen before. Officials said that about 17,000 children in Gaza are suffering from severe malnutrition.
Israel is preventing aid from entering the territory in order to pressure Hamas, the Palestinian independence movement in Gaza. Israeli forces are also firing on people seeking relief there. Human rights organizations are describing the relief distribution center of a US- and Israel-backed organization as a “death pit.” According to the Gaza Health Ministry, the GHF began distributing relief in Gaza in late May. Since then, about 900 people have been killed by Israeli forces and GHF mercenaries shooting at hungry Palestinians who went to the organization’s distribution centers to receive relief.
The US- and Israel-backed organization has opened four relief centers in Gaza. Previously, relief distribution activities were carried out from about 400 centers under the United Nations and various charities in Gaza. The GHF relief centers are now considered high-risk areas.
